Feb 16: Dismantling the School-to-Prison Pipeline: A Continuing Conversation & Working Meeting

Over the past few years, several local organizations have been addressing the school-to-prison pipeline in Chicago. Some of these organizations gathered on January 24th to discuss new federal proposals to potentially increase the number of police officers in our public schools.

Join us on February 16th from 2 to 4:30 p.m. as we continue to discuss ideas for addressing the criminalization of students in Chicago Public Schools. More importantly, participate in existing local efforts to dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline.

Dr. Erica Meiners, Jane Hereth, and Lewis Wallace will discuss their essay (co-authored with Mariame Kaba) “Restorative Justice Is Not Enough: School-Based Interventions in the Carceral State” published in Dismantling the School-to-Prison Pipeline (Harvard Educational Review, 2012)

Saturday, Feb 16th
2 to 4:30 p.m.
