On Monday Feb 20th, individuals and organizations across the U.S. will participate in the National Occupy Day in Support of Prisoners.
We at Project NIA have decided to organize an action in support of this event on February 20th. We invite youth ages 6 to 17 who have an incarcerated relative (mother, father, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, cousin) to join us for an afternoon of art-making, letter-writing, and picture-taking. We will open the event with a peacemaking circle to discuss what each of us miss by having a loved one behind bars.
When: February 20
Time: 1:00 to 3:30 p.m.
Where: Rumble Arts Center, 3413 West North Ave
If you are planning to bring a group of young people to the event, please let us know by RSVPing. We want to provide some pizza and refreshments so we need an accurate count of people attending.
If you would like to volunteer to make art, to take photographs, to help out, please contact Mariame at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Also, we can use donations of art supplies and food for this event. Let us know if you can contribute.
